APC Presidential Election Victory Is A Confirmation Of The Party’s Dominance – Garba Shehu
…Says the Party’s defeat would have ended the career of many Politicians.
The Presidency on Thursday reviewed the recently concluded general elections in the country, and concluded that the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential, national assembly and state elections have confirmed the party’s dominance in the Country.
The President spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, stated this at the State House, Abuja, stressing that the victory of the President-elect and Vice President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima has firmly established the party as the dominating political party.
He stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still dominating the various states across the country in the concluded general elections, with the control of 21 states out of the 36 states.
Shehu made this known when he received in a courtesy visit of Arewa Young Lawyers Forum (AYLF), whose body is made up of young lawyers in the Northern part of Nigeria.
He said the opposition victory in the general election would not have only ended the career of many APC leaders, but would have also had negative consequences for the various programmes of the Buhari administration that empowered marginalised groups and remedied much of the nation’s infrastructure deficit.
Shehu said: “APC victory in the concluded general elections is a watershed moment for the Buhari’s administration in terms of orientation, programmes and projects.
‘‘In the hands of the opposition, many of the laudable projects and programmes of the Buhari’s administration would have been sabotaged or unimplemented.
“An important and overlooked aspect of the Tinubu/Shettima victory is that it ensures, not only an orderly transfer of power from the outgoing administration to the incoming one, but also the safety of policies and programmes of the outgoing government.
‘‘For this, we remain grateful to God Almighty, and citizens of Nigeria for sticking with our party, the APC.
In accepting his appointment as Grand Patron of the Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum, the president spokesman urged members of the association to be at the vanguard of promoting the study and practice of the legal profession in the Northern States and beyond.
“To build and secure democracy in our communities, you need lawyers and journalists as its guardians and protectors. Without one, the other will not be successful.
The Chairman of Arewa Young Lawyer’s Forum, Barr. Olayinka Dauda Jimoh, thanked the president spokesman for his audience, and solicited for support of the presidency in giving strategic training to young wigs to enhance their leadership roles in the society.
