Two Ekeremor Sons, Ebilade & Jonathan To Battle For IYC National President’s Office

It is another season to elect national and zonal officers of one of the most prestigious organizations in the Ijaw Nation, the Ijaw Youth Council whose body was established decades ago to speak and defend the values and beliefs of the people of the Ijaw Nation.

The office of the National President of the revered institution (Ijaw Youth Council) has created tension in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as two sons from the local government area declare their interest to contest for the same office in the forthcoming elections.

Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri who is a former Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone, from Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State declared his interest to contest for the office of the National President of the Ijaw Youth Council in the forthcoming elections months ago.

Sources reveals that Lokpobiri has been consulting critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to solicit for support to ensure his victory as president of the revered institution, the Ijaw Youth Council in the forthcoming council elections since his declaration of interest.

The current National Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe has declared his intention yesterday to contest for the office of the national president of the revered institution in the forthcoming council elections.

Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe hails from Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, which is the same local government area with the former chairman of IYC central zone, Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri.

Hot News gathered that the former chairman of the revered institution central zone consulted the current national spokesman worldwide to seek his consent and support as people who have worked together in different platforms over the years.

Sources revealed that the two contestants has a close working relationship over the years, stressing that they have always supported each other’s ambitions overtime. This election stands the chance of destroying the long time relationship.

There are indications that more persons will declare their intentions to contest for the office of the national president of the revered institution, the Ijaw Youth Council in the coming days. The elections will bring in new leadership of the revered institution at various level.
