Ijaw Nation Has Its Own Jagaban, In Person Of Senator Dickson – APC Chieftain
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr Awara Confido, has called on critical stakeholders of the Ijaw Nation to rally round the Former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
Mr Awara made the call after proper assessment of the former Governor and serving Senator’s interview on Channels television discussing issues of great concern of the Ijaw nation, that needs to be addressed by the federal government towards improving the welfare of the people.
He stated that no other political leader in the state and Ijaw nation has passionately advanced the Ijaw interest like Senator Dickson, adding that the former governor has exemplified himself as a nationalist and a holistic politician who is clearly ahead of the game of politics.
Mr Awara said that the former governor is undoubtedly fitted into the role of the political ‘grand master’ of the Ijaw nation, which is an office the region unfortunately lacked before now, stressing that the earlier the region accepts this fact, and begin to support it, the better.
The statement reads: “I have observed that the former governor and serving senator possesses a unique sense of vision for the development region.
“He has an in-depth knowledge of issues affecting the Ijaw nation, and if the ijaw nation rally’s round Senator Dickson, they would be rallying round one man that has the capacity to put the Ijaw nation back to limelight.
“The most intriguing aspects of it all is that, the man has remained politically relevant in the state after leaving office as governor for close to five years.
“The strong political foundation he built while in office as governor, still sustains the political structure in the state even without being actively involved in the politics of the state.
“His political sagacity was yet demonstrated in the last governorship election where over 60,000 votes from his senatorial district alone decided the victory of his successor, Senator Douye Diri.
“There is hardly any known and relevant politician in Bayelsa state today that haven’t in one way or the other benefitted from the political weight and strength of this great man, as a leader that believes in building other leaders around him.
“Senator Dickson is the Jagaban of the Ijaw nation that we can be proud of, if we give him the requisite support and backing, as an leader with vast knowledge, experience of leadership, with in-depth knowledge of the issues of the Ijaw nation.
