Niger Delta Group Calls For Jude’s Arrest Over False Claims

The Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum has called on the Inspector-General of Police and the National Security Officer for the immediate arrest of Mr Jude Gbaboyor over cyberstalking and bulling of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, High Chief Government Ekpomupolo, Gbaramatu Kingdom and others.

The group publicity secretary, General Darlington Oyinkuro while addressing news in Calabar, the Cross-River State capital, described Mr Jude Gbaboyor as a known serial blackmailer who has made various false allegations against prominent leaders in the Niger Delta region.

Mr Jude Gbaboyor who is from Isaba community in Delta State, made fallacious claims that High Chief Government Ekpomupolo publicly known as Tompolo was responsible for the kidnap of some youths via his facebook handle few days ago.

The claims of Mr Jude Gbaboyor are not only misleading and fallacious, but simply an act of cyberstalking and bulling intending to defame the hard-earned reputation of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, High Chief Government Ekpomupolo a.k.a Tompolo and the Gbaramatu Kingdom basically.

The prestigious group spokesman said according to the Nigerian Cybercrime Act, specifically Section 24(2), clearly states that it is a crime to intentionally transmit a communication that threatens, bullies or harass another person via any communication channel.

General Darlington said that Section 58 of the Cybercrime Act, defines cyberstalking as a course of conduct that causes a reasonable person to fear, which has a penalty offense of up to ten years imprisonment, and a minimum of twenty five million naira fine.

He noted that the negative impacts of cyberstalking and cyberbulling are devastatingly numerous, ranging from psychological and physical impacts, including behavioral changes that can lead to anxiety, frustration, depression and suicide.

The group urged Inspector-General of Police and National Security Officer to take drastic actions in arresting and prosecuting Mr Jude Gbaboyor to put an end to his cyberbulling, and ensure that justice is served.
