Ekeremor LGA Women Drum Support For Senator Dickson
Press Statement
A Call For Unity, Progress, Continued Cooperation In Bayelsa West
As women of Ekeremor Constituency One (1), we rise to lend our voices to the resounding call for unity and sustained cooperation among our people.
For generations, we have lived in peace and mutual respect. However, recent developments threatens this cherished harmony in ways we have not previously witnessed.
With the approach of another political season, it is unsurprising to see familiar patterns emerge. Certain politicians – lacking meaningful achievements have once again resorted to tactics that divide rather than unite our people – sowing discord among brothers in pursuit of narrow personal interests.
Among the many political figures we have encountered, one name clearly stands out: the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
From his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State to his current office in the Nigerian Senate, no other leader in our region has demonstrated such consistent commitment to meaningful development and human capacity-building.
All thanks to Senator Dickson, as we can now drive to different communities in Ekeremor LGA – a feat that once seemed impossible. He not only established the Bayelsa State Polytechnic in Aleibiri, but also brought the University of Africa to our senatorial district, opening doors to higher education for our youths. With the founding of Hensard University, Toru-Orua, these opportunities have only expanded – many of our children are now beneficiaries of scholarships made possible through his vision.
We also recall his pivotal role in the political ascension of sons of our soil, including the emergence and re-election of His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri. Dickson’s support was instrumental in the historic mobilization that ensured victory at the polls. Governor Diri has since continued the development of the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road – one of Senator Dickson’s greatest legacies.
Furthermore, Senator Dickson spearheaded the construction of local markets in Ekeremor and Aleibiri communities, including the organization of numerous women empowerment programmes. These initiatives provided training in poultry farming, distribution of fishing kits, and other resources that have empowered us to support our homes independently.
We cannot overlook his yearly provision of food supplies to women across the constituency every yuletide season since his days as governor, including his support for healthcare especially for women and children which has drastically reduced infant/mother mortality in the senatorial district – acts of compassion that remains rare in our region.
Senator Dickson has also played key roles in the emergence and political growth of several leaders in our communities, including Hon. Fred Agbedi, Hon. Michael Ogbere, Hon. Tari Porri, Hon. Ball Oyarede, amongst others.
His deep respect for our customs was evident in his reform of the Traditional Council, which led to the elevation of several royal stools, including that of our own revered Alei.
At the Senate, Dickson continues to be a powerful voice for our people, championing our interests with clarity, courage, and conviction. His contributions have made him not only a national figure, but a true mouthpiece of Bayelsa West, Bayelsa State, Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta.
We know all our sons, and we understand which of them is best suited to lead in certain times. In this season, Senator Dickson remains the leader who embodies our collective aspirations and capacity to deliver.
We therefore urge our women and youths to remain discerning, and not be swayed by empty narratives and promises. We know our history, we know our people, and we are best positioned to guide.
Let us resist the forces that seek to divide us. Our strength lies in our unity, and that unity must be preserved at all costs.
We hereby affirm our unwavering confidence in the leadership of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and unequivocally pledge our total support for him.
