Bayelsa-Owned Airline Presents Operating Certificate To Gov. Diri

The Operator of Pioneer Airline, has formally presented the airline’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, following the approval by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority for the commencement of commercial flight operations.

The presentation ceremony, which took place at Government House in Yenagoa, marked a significant milestone in the state government’s efforts to position Bayelsa as a major player in Nigeria’s aviation sector to boost economic growth and development in the state.

The Air Operator Certificate was officially handed over to the Managing Director of Pioneer Airline, Captain Henry Ungbuku, by the NCAA after the airline successfully met the regulatory requirements for commercial flight operations.

Presenting the certificate to Governor Diri, Capt. Ungbuku expressed profound appreciation to the governor for his commitment and support in fast-tracking the approval process, noting that the administration’s determination and investment in the aviation sector made the achievement possible.

He stated that with the approval now secured, the airline was fully prepared to commence daily flight operations in and out of the Bayelsa International Airport, Yenagoa, adding that the development would open up the state for business opportunities, tourism, and investment.

According to him, the airline’s operations would not only improve transportation for residents and visitors but also stimulate economic activities across Bayelsa and the Niger Delta region.

Capt. Ungbuku assured the governor that the airline would maintain high operational and safety standards in line with global aviation best practices and NCAA regulations.

The airline chief was accompanied to the Governor’s office by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bayelsa International Airport, Air Vice Marshal Nelson Ebieteli Calmday (Rtd), who described the approval as a landmark achievement for the state’s aviation sector.

Also present during the brief ceremony was the Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo.

The approval of the airline’s operating licence by the NCAA is widely seen as a major breakthrough for Bayelsa State’s transportation infrastructure and economic expansion drive under Governor Diri’s administration.

The commencement of commercial operations by pioneer airline will significantly ease travel challenges to and from Bayelsa, while also enhancing the strategic relevance of the Bayelsa International Airport within Nigeria’s aviation network.
