Gov Diri Reflects On Mother’s Impact @13th Remembrance
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Friday paid glowing tributes to the memory of his late mother, Mrs. Rose Diri, describing her as a virtuous woman whose legacy of love, kindness, compassion is an inspiration to many people.
Governor Diri spoke during the 13th memorial service held in honour of the late matriarch at Ayamasa community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The governor noted that mothers occupy very special places in the hearts of their children because of the care, warmth, sacrifices and guidance they provide throughout life.
According to him, the late Mrs. Rose Diri positively impacted not only the lives of her children but also members of the extended family and all those who came in contact with her during her lifetime.
He said her good deeds and caring nature remain evergreen in the memories of many years after her passing.
Governor Diri urged people to always strive to touch lives positively and leave behind enduring legacies that would be remembered long after they are gone.
The governor also expressed appreciation to all guests and sympathisers who attended the well-attended memorial service to honour the memory of his mother.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Akpe, and his wife, Dr. Favour Akpe, alongside political associates, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and family members.
As part of the solemn ceremony, Governor Diri read the only lesson from the Book of 2 Timothy 4:6-8, reflecting on the importance of faith, service and finishing life’s race with honour.
Different speakers at the memorial service paid glowing tributes to the late Mrs. Rose Diri, describing her as a loving, caring and humble woman who devoted her life to the wellbeing of others.
They commended her exemplary lifestyle, noting that her kindness, generosity and peaceful disposition left lasting impressions on everyone who knew her.
The speakers further prayed for the Diri family and encouraged them to continue upholding the values and virtues for which their late mother was known.
The memorial service ended with prayers, songs of worship and reflections on the enduring impact of motherhood and selfless service to humanity.
