Lagos State Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency, Hon. Desmond Elliot, has publicly sought forgiveness from his political mentor, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over a recent misunderstanding on political trends.

During an interview with TVC News, the state house of assembly member representing Surulere constitituency, expressed deep regret for any action or words that might have affected his political mentor and benefactor.

The public apology comes amid speculations of a growing rift between the state lawmaker, Mr Elliot and his political mentor, Mr Gbajabiamila

Elliot, who has consistently viewed Gbajabiamila as a father figure and benefactor in his political journey, noted that it was never his intention to show disrespect or undermine the authority of the Chief of Staff.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity of their political family, especially given the high-stakes nature of governance in Lagos State and the country at large.

While he did not specify the exact incident that led to the friction, the lawmaker made it clear that he values the mentorship and guidance he has received from Gbajabiamila over the years.

Recall that Politics Nigeria earlier reported that Gbajabiamila revealed President Bola Tinubu had considered relieving him of his duties as Chief of Staff due to the Obasa’s impeachment saga as Speaker.

This development was reportedly linked to allegations involving Desmond Elliot’s perceived role in a plot to impeach the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

The fallout from those allegations had cast a shadow over Elliot’s political future, leading to this latest public effort to make amends and restore his relationship with the Chief of Staff.
