Diri Reaffirms Commitment To Infrastructure As He Inspects Ekeremor-Ndoro-Agge Road Project
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the ongoing Ekeremor-Ndoro-Agge Road project in Ekeremor Local Government Area, describing the road as a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity and easing the hardship faced by residents of the riverine communities.
Governor Diri made the remarks on Thursday during an inspection tour of the project, accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, and other government officials–as part of the administration’s commitment to monitoring ongoing projects and ensuring that contractors adhere to approved specifications and timelines.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Diri reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering people-oriented projects that directly impact the lives of Bayelsans.
He noted that the construction of the Ekeremor-Ndoro-Agge Road is one of several strategic interventions designed to open up communities, stimulate economic activities, and improve access to social services.
According to the Governor, the ultimate goal of his government is to alleviate the suffering of the people through sustainable development initiatives.
“For me, I am development-oriented. I want to see the suffering of my people stop, and that’s what I am doing,” Governor Diri stated.
The Governor expressed confidence in the contractor handling the project, citing the company’s track record and long-standing relationship with the Bayelsa state government.
“Well, I am very satisfied with the level of work I have seen today, and this is not a new company to us as a government. This company has been working with the Bayelsa State Government since I assumed office as governor. So, I don’t doubt the capacity of this company to deliver on this road,” he added.
Governor Diri, however, urged the contractors to sustain the momentum and ensure that work progresses according to schedule, emphasizing the importance of timely delivery of the project for the benefit of the affected communities.
The Ekeremor-Ndoro-Agge Road is considered a landmark project that will significantly enhance transportation within the area, improve access to markets and essential services, and foster socio-economic development across Ekeremor Local Government Area.
Providing an update on the project, the Project Manager, Engr. Saheed, assured the governor that construction was progressing steadily. He disclosed that Phase One of the road, which links Ekeremor Town to Ndoro Community, is expected to be completed and ready for use by next year.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining quality standards while meeting the project’s timeline.
Residents and stakeholders in the area have continued to commend the Bayelsa state government for embarking on the ambitious road project, which is expected to transform transportation to boost economic activities in communities that have historically faced accessibility challenges.
The inspection underscores Governor Diri’s hands-on approach to governance and his administration’s determination to deliver critical infrastructure that promotes development towards improving the quality of life of Bayelsans generally.
