Diri Set To Empower Bayelsa Entrepreneurs with Certifications, Starter Packs
The Bayelsa State Government has scheduled to take another significant step towards strengthening entrepreneurship and economic development as Governor Douye Diri prepares to empower trained entrepreneurs through the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme.
Hotnews reports the empowerment initiative, which is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa, will feature the presentation of professional business certifications and starter packs to beneficiaries who successfully completed various vocational and entrepreneurial training programmes under the state government’s flagship empowerment scheme.
Tagged “Douye Diri Skills Entrepreneurs’ Certification and Empowerment Ceremony 2026,” the event is expected to mark a major milestone in the Prosperity Administration’s efforts to build a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of driving sustainable economic growth and wealth creation across Bayelsa State.
The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development and Director-General of the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, disclosed this in a statement issued at the weekend.
According to her, the ceremony, themed “Building an Entrepreneurial Bayelsa: From Skills Acquisition to Certification, Innovation, and Sustainable Wealth Creation,” reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to human capital development, entrepreneurship promotion, and economic empowerment.
Mrs. Godwin explained that beneficiaries of the programme would not only receive professional certifications recognizing their newly acquired skills and competencies but would also be provided with starter packs aimed at helping them establish and expand their businesses.
She noted that the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between training and enterprise development by ensuring that participants are equipped with the tools and resources needed to become self-reliant and productive contributors to the state’s economy.
“Beneficiaries, who were trained under the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, will receive professional business certification and starter packs to strengthen their enterprises and promote self-reliance,” she stated.
The Director-General further emphasized that the certification ceremony would serve as a platform to celebrate the achievements of emerging entrepreneurs while inspiring others to embrace innovation, vocational skills acquisition, and enterprise development as pathways to economic success.
The event is expected to attract a wide range of dignitaries and stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, development partners, youth groups, and members of the public.
Stakeholders have described the initiative as a strategic intervention capable of reducing unemployment, stimulating small and medium-scale enterprises, and creating sustainable sources of income for young people and women across the state.
Since the inception of the Prosperity Administration, Governor Diri has consistently prioritized programmes aimed at empowering citizens through skills development, entrepreneurship training, and economic inclusion.
The upcoming certification and empowerment ceremony is seen as a continuation of those efforts, with a focus on transforming beneficiaries from job seekers into job creators.
Mrs. Godwin therefore called on members of the public to attend the event and witness what she described as a historic occasion in the state’s journey towards economic transformation.
“The general public are cordially invited to witness this historic occasion as Bayelsa State continues to promote enterprise, innovation, and wealth creation among its people,” she said.
She reaffirmed Governor Diri’s commitment to creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and supporting initiatives that foster prosperity and sustainable development.
According to her, Governor Diri remains steadfast in his determination to build an economically vibrant Bayelsa where entrepreneurship thrives and citizens are empowered with the skills, resources, and support needed to achieve lasting success.
With the presentation of certifications and starter packs, the state government hopes to further strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of beneficiaries, encourage innovation, and create a new generation of business owners capable of contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic advancement of Bayelsa State.
