Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Dr. Akpe Tasks Bayelsa RDA Chairmen To Redouble Efforts On Project Completion

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, has charged chairmen of the 32 Rural Development Authorities (RDAs) in the state to redouble efforts toward completing ongoing projects and ensuring they are delivered for use by rural communities.

Hotnews reports that Dr. Akpe gave the charge on Tuesday while presiding over a meeting with RDA chairmen and principal officers at his office in Government House, Yenagoa.

He stressed the importance of proper documentation and strict compliance with procurement regulations, noting that due diligence was essential for accountability, quality and effective project execution.

He also directed the chairmen to compile comprehensive records of projects executed under their leadership, including photographs, project titles and locations in both soft and hard copies.

The Deputy Governor commended the RDA chairmen, treasurers and directors for their support and urged them to prioritise projects that would enable people at the grassroots to feel the impact of government.

He also called on the RDA officials and workers to participate fully in activities marking Bayelsa at 30, beginning September 28, including the Ijaw Language Awareness Programme, sporting events, road flotilla, boat regatta, musical concert, anniversary lecture, State Mega Praise and anniversary dinner.

Dr. Akpe further urged the officials to support the administration while providing constructive criticism where necessary, describing the RDAs as an important link between government and the grassroots.

The RDA chairmen, led by their forum leader, Sir Saturday Sikoki, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his supervision of RDA affairs and assured him of their commitment to completing ongoing projects.

The meeting ended with the presentation of a gift to Dr. Akpe by the RDA Chairmen’s Forum in appreciation of his leadership and supervision of the authorities.
