2027 Budget: Sagbama Chairman Holds Public Interactive Session, Consults Stakeholders On Community Priorities

The leadership of Sagbama Local Government Area, led by the Acting Chairman, Hon. (Mrs) Diepriye Roseline Yankee-Robinson, on Wednesday, held a stakeholders’ public interactive session as part of process for the preparation of the 2027 Citizens/Annual Budget.

The interactive session, held at the Council Secretariat Executive Conference Room, had in attendance of stakeholders, including council staff, directors of departments, traditional rulers, political leaders, councillors, women and youth organisations, trade groups, CDC chairmen and youth presidents from communities across Sagbama LGA.

Addressing the stakeholders, the Acting Council Chairman welcoming all attendees to the interactive session, expressed profound appreciation to the stakeholders for their presence and active participation, stressing the importance of collective input in identifying priority needs of the people.

Hon. Yankee-Robinson noted that her administration is committed to grassroots engagement, participation, transparency and accountability in governance, where stakeholders representing various organisations and communities were provided with documents to indicate priority projects and programmes for implementation in their respective communities.

The council chairman further stated that the initiative was designed to ensure that the 2027 budget reflects the genuine needs and aspirations of the people, while promoting inclusive and participatory governance in the local government area and beyond.

Speaking during the public interactive session, stakeholders described the initiative as an important opportunity for communities and various interest groups to communicate their needs and development priorities directly to the council leadership for consideration and implementation.

The stakeholders commended the council chairman for timely organizing a public interactive session to facilitate collective participation and contributions in the preparation of the 2027 annual budget, describing the initiative as overwhelming, and first in history in the council leadership.

According to the stakeholders, creating the platform for representatives from different communities to identify and submit priority projects, would help the council leadership to have a better understanding of grassroots needs to ensure that budgetary planning prioritizes communities challenges.

Commending the administration for promoting transparency, accountability and participatory governance, they noted that collective participation and contributions from stakeholders across the local government area, has further strengthen the process for the preparation of the 2027 budget.

The stakeholders expressed their readiness to continue working with the council leadership, and contribute constructively to initiatives aimed at improving development and service delivery to the people across Sagbama Local Government Area.

The interactive session provided stakeholders with an opportunity to make contributions, identify community priorities and engage directly with the council leadership on issues concerning development and service delivery across Sagbama LGA.
