Your Excellencies, royal fathers, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. It is a profound honour and a distinct privilege to welcome you all to this landmark celebration marking the 30th Anniversary of the creation of our beloved State.

Today is more than a commemoration of a date in our history. It is an opportunity to reflect on our journey as a people, celebrate the progress we have made, acknowledge the challenges we have surmounted, and renew our collective commitment to building a state that future generations will be proud to inherit.

Our aspirations for self-determination within the framework of a federal system have served as guard rails to successive Administrations in the spirited striving to make a difference between the yesterday and now of constituent communities within this geopolitical entity.

And the results are evident in the state of infrastructure, human capital development, economic empowerment, and the overall improvement in the quality of life of our people.

In this august audience, testimonies are legion as to what state creation and purposeful leadership have made of those aspirations. Some distinguished guests here seated departed faraway places like Lagos or Abuja this morning and arrived early enough for an event slated for 10am.

A few minutes away is our international airport, serviced by our own airline in competition with others, and a modern dualised highway all the way to this venue. And in most parts of the Yenagoa metropolis and environs, it’s 24/7 power supply from our newly commissioned 60-megawatt gas turbine. This is indeed the magic of the times.

We are going to receive goodwill messages,be entertained thereafter by the Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture and then have the Anniversary Lecture and panel discussions. Our Anniversary publication, Bayelsa at 30: The History of its Founding and progress will be unveiled.

Our Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and our State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri , will address us in the course of the programme. And let’s not forget, there’s Bayelsa Mega Praise, later in the day.

On behalf of the Government and good people of Bayelsa State, I welcome you all heartily as you join us in celebration of milestones and legacies that stand us out as truly, “The Glory of All Lands.”

Our profound gratitude also to all who have contributed to making us what we are today the vibrant and resourceful Public Service, traditional institutions, thought leaders, the security agencies, and youth groups, among others.

May this Anniversary serve to reinvigorate us all toward promotion of peace, unity, justice, inclusiveness, and sustainable development. May it inspire us to rise above self and to uphold ideals that will serve as beacon to upcoming generations.
