Bayelsa @30: Bayelsa Govt Commends Planning Cttees, Bayelsans For Peaceful, Successful Celebrations

The Bayelsa State Government has commended members of the various anniversary sub-committees, political and critical stakeholders, as well as the people of the state, for their contributions to the successful and colourful celebration of Bayelsa’s 30th anniversary of the State’s creation.

Hotnews reports that the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, gave the commendation on behalf of Governor Douye Diri during a meeting with chairmen and members of the sub-committees at Government House, Yenagoa.

Dr. Akpe described the anniversary as a defining moment in the history of Bayelsa, noting that the success of the four-day programme demonstrated the unity, cooperation and collective spirit of the people.

He expressed appreciation to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife, Dr. Dame Patience Jonathan, members of the National Assembly, the family of the late General Sani Abacha, the eight local government chairmen and Rural Development Authority officials for their participation and support.

The Deputy Governor also thanked the people of Bayelsa for rallying behind the celebration, while attributing the peaceful conduct and favourable weather throughout the events to God’s grace.

He said the anniversary provided an opportunity for Bayelsans to reconnect, celebrate their heritage and look forward to a new era of greater unity, development and progress.

The meeting also featured presentations of reports by chairmen of the various sub-committees, with top government officials, commissioners and other stakeholders in attendance.
