Recall that Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo were sworn-in as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, resulting from the the Supreme Court Judgment against the Governor-elect, Chief David Lyon over name discrepancies on the certificates of the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Degi Biobarakuma Eremienyo, who is a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Bagou while addressing newsmen of hotnews in Yenagoa the State Capital, described the Deputy Governor of the State, as someone who has shown capacity and competence in leadership and governance while handling public offices over the years, stressing that he will perform far better than the Governor in delivering purposeful leadership and good governance to well-meaning Bayelsans.
“Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as a Commissioner for Works under the Restoration Government led by Henry Seriake Dickson, performed tremendously well in infrastructural development most especially the commencement of the Bayelsa West and Central senatorial district roads, which are landmark achievements under his administration as commissioner for works.
Bagou stated that the Prosperity Government led by Governor Douye Diri has recorded some level of achievements mostly in infrastructural development, as a result of the wealth of knowledge and experience of the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who was trained and mentored by his godfather the former Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
“The tremendous performance of some Local Government Council Chairmen in carrying out meaningful infrastructural projects was as a result of the proper engagement and supervision of the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in ensuring that Council Chairmen are carefully monitored in management of financial resources in their respective Local Government Councils.
Bagou further stated that the Deputy Governor carry out the most tasking functions of the prosperity government, by constantly engaging Traditional Leaders, Community Leaderships, Student Bodies, Trade Unions and other institutions to collaborate with the policies and programmes of the government in delivering quality leadership and good governance to well-meaning Bayelsans.
“It is an unarguable fact that the deputy governor has been carrying out the functions and responsibilities of the office of the governor since assumption in office, continuing and maintaining the legacy infrastructural projects initiated by the deputy governor in the previous administration which has given a facelift of the prosperity administration.
“The Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has proven to be more experienced and capable in delivering good leadership and governance to well-meaning Bayelsans, considering the important functions and tasking responsibilities of the government been carried out relentlessly on behalf of the Governor.
“The Governor Douye Diri led prosperity administration would have been in total confusion and mess without the impressive leadership style of governance by the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in handling important functions and tasking responsibilities of the prosperity government.
“Bayelsans would have experienced better leadership in governance under Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as Governor while Douye Diri as Deputy, considering the important numerous functions single handedly been carried out by the the Deputy Governor, and proper assessment of his impressive leadership style in governance since the beginning of the prosperity administration.
Bagou added that Bayelsans has being so unlucky with leaders handling the office of the governor, stressing that the people should brace up in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, by supporting a governorship candidate that understands the pains and sufferings of the common Bayelsan, and the zeal to improve the well-being of the commonality.
