2023 Gubernatorial: Gov. Diri’s Meeting With Some Bayelsa APC Members In Abuja Revealed

The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri held a closed door meeting with some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bayelsa State, during his visit to the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, last week.

The closed door meeting which lasted for hours between both parties (Governor Douye Diri and the APC members), ended with a resolution that they should remain in the APC and work against the party in the forthcoming general elections and the gubernatorial election in November, 2023.

Hotnews gathered that the closed door meeting was held in a private top hotel in the federal capital territory, Abuja, adding that this is not the first time the governor is holding such closed door meeting with the APC members from Bayelsa State.

A participant of the meeting who prefer his name to be anonymous stated that the governor made a lot of promises to the attendees of the meeting, ranging from contracts, political appointments and financial benefits that will change their life and political status entirely.

The anonymous participant added that the attendees of the closed door meeting are well-known members of the APC in Bayelsa State, who are pretending to be loyal and committed to the leader of the party in the state, Mr Timipre Sylva, while feeling aggrieved in the dark by working against the party.

He stated that one of the most important issue that was discussed in the meeting, is for the leader of the APC members in the meeting to contest the 2023 gubernatorial election, and if he unfortunately lose the party primary election, then he should challenge the process of the party primary election in court.

The anonymous participant added that the governor promised to provide all the necessary financial support and otherwise to ensure that the APC 2023 governorship primary election is nullified, and ensure that the party is removed on the ballot in the day of the election, which will disorganize the party.

Hotnews gathered that the governor has held several meetings of such with some of the APC members at Abuja before now, and they have been working with the governor before the last week meeting, but this is the largest number of attendees of the APC members in the closed door meeting that lasted for hours.

The anonymous participant warned the leader of APC in Bayelsa State, Mr Timipre Sylva to be mindful of party members he should reconcile with, and work with, as the 2023 bayelsa gubernatorial election draws closer, stressing that most of the so called aggrieved party members have been working with the governor for a while now.

The governor through the chief press secretary was yet to respond to newsmen of hotnews to respond to the claims before making this report.
