President-Elect, Bola Tinubu had a four hours closed doors meeting with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who was the Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the February 25th, 2023, presidential election.
Kwankwaso, who contested the presidential election on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), scored fourth position in the presidential election, winning only his State, Kano.
A source revealed that the duo met for hours in Paris, the capital of France on Monday 16th, 2023.
Tinubu reportedly told Kwankwaso to reach out to his political associates on the need for him to work with the incoming administration.
The President-elect and his guest were said to have agreed to hold subsequent meetings to discuss issues of national interest in the coming days.
Kwankwaso was accompanied by his wife, an NNPP Lawmaker-elect, Abdulmimin Jibrin, while Tinubu’s wife and Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives were part of the meeting.
According to the source, and it read in parts:
“The President-elect and Senator Kwankwaso met for over four hours behind closed doors in Paris on Monday.
“The meeting which started at about 12:30pm ended at about 4:45pm.
“The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Kano State House of Assembly Member-elect, Hon. Abdulmimin Jibrin.
“Sen. Oluremi Tinubu was also present with her husband to receive Kwankwaso’s wife Hajia Salamatu who came with her husband to the closed doors meeting.
“Discussions were centered around their long term friendship since their days in the national assembly in 1992, issues of national interest, unity and development, priorities for the new government, national assembly leadership contestants, and the plan of the President-elect to have a government of national unity, which Kwankwaso accepted to play a major role.
The source further stated that Tinubu also hinted at reconciling Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and Kwankwaso Rabiu in the coming days.
