Bayelsa Guber Election: Dickson Congratulates Diri, Says It’s A Victory For All Bayelsans
The Immediate Past Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Senator Douye Diri and Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on their re-election as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.
The congratulatory message of the governor and deputy was made by the former governor through his official facebook handle, described the duo’s landslide victory as a hard-fought victory that signifies a win for all Bayelsans, irrespective of political party affiliation in the concluded governorship election.
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Douye Diri, scored 175,196 votes to defeat the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva who scored 110,108 votes in the just concluded November 11th gubernatorial election in the state.
The Federal Lawmaker popularly known as the Ofuruma-Pepe, stated that the governor and deputy’s victory presents another opportunity for the state to continue to consolidate on the gains made over the years on development, peace, security and stability.
The statement reads: “On behalf of my family, the entire Bayelsa West Senatorial district, and the esteemed elders of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on their resounding victory in the just concluded governorship election.
“This hard-fought victory signifies a win for all Bayelsans and there are no losers in this election.
“Governor Diri’s victory presents another opportunity for the state to continue to consolidate on the gains made over the years on development, peace, security and stability.
