Third-Phase Delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), have applauded the initiatives of the current leadership of the programme, especially the cooperative loan scheme and the strategic coordination of the scholarship scheme specifically.

The third-phase delegates made this known in an interactive meeting with stakeholders over the weekend in Benin, Edo State, noted that the leadership style of the interim administrator, Maj-General Barry Ndiomu (rtd), has arrested brewing tensions in the region in recent time.

National President of the PAP Third-Phase leaders, General Elaye Slaboh while speaking on behalf of his colleagues, expressed profound gratitude and delight with the current administration under the competent leadership of the interim administrator, Maj-General Barry Ndiomu (rtd).

“We are very happy with the interim administrator. With the way and manner he is handling the programme, if he continues like this, then the best is yet to come,” he added.

While urging the PAP leadership to capture more third-phase delegates in the cooperative and scholarship schemes, he charged his colleagues to continuously support Ndiomu to do more for delegates basically.

The PAP Interim Administrator who was represented by the Head of Reintegration, Mr Wilfred Musa stated that the whole essence of the interactive meeting was to bring members of the third-phase up to speed with the vision and mission of the current PAP leadership.

Mr Musa called for an overhaul of questionable attitudes among delegates, stating that, “a good number of our delegates can not hold jobs because of their attitudes.”

He expressed displeasure over the poor performance of delegates under the scholarship scheme across various higher institutions of learning, stating that rather than engaging in serious reading culture, they are engaged in frivolous petitions against the PAP leadership.

Maj-General Ndiomu frowned at the poor performance of some delegates in their recent examinations in various higher institutions, where some of them were dropped due to poor performance.

To raise the standards, he said “PAP has resolved to prioritize admission for delegates into any university of their choice, but it will no longer be business as usual.

“The programme cannot be involved in wasteful ventures with poor standards. We will only support those who are willing to be trained within the amnesty programme,” he added.

Maj-General Ndiomu charged the third-phase leaders to take up the responsibility of projecting the workings of the amnesty programme in their leadership domains.

He further commended the PAP delegates for maintaining a high level of decorum, especially at the various interactive meetings held in Rivers, Calabar and Abuja respectively.

The amnesty boss urged delegates to shun divisive tendencies capable of inciting disunity, stressing that as leaders they should shun frivolous petitions that tends bringing down the amnesty programme established to empower Niger Deltans.
