Gov. Diri Paid Courtesy Visit To Ijaw National Leader, Pa E.K Clark
The Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, led a high-powered delegation of some national assembly members and political leaders of the state, on a courtesy visit to the Ijaw National Leader, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
The Governor made this known through his official facebook handle, described the Ijaw national leader as a rare gift and voice of the Niger Delta and Ijaw nation, who has remained relevant in the country’s political life since the pre-independence era basically.
Governor Diri who was accompanied by members of the national assembly (house of reps), including top government functionaries, on the courtesy visit to the Ijaw national leader to wish him happy 97th birthday at his residence in Abuja.
The Governor while congratulating Pa. Clark on his 97th birthday, commended the Ijaw national leader for his tremendous contributions and commitment to national development, adding that his voice and interventions on topical issues of the country remained the same.
While celebrating Pa Clark, Governor Diri described him as a unique leader, father and nationalist, stressing that the Niger Delta and the Ijaw nation is very proud of him for his tremendous contributions and commitment to national development over the years.
The statement reads: “Today, I led a delegation of some Bayelsa State political leaders on a visit to the Ijaw National Leader, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
“Pa Clark, through his spokesperson and illustrious son of Bayelsa, Amb. (Dr.) Boladei Godknows Igali, warmly received us traditionally to his Asokoro-Abuja residence.
“The visit was to felicitate our father and icon, who turned 97 years on Saturday, May 25.
“Pa Clark, a rare gift of the Ijaw nation to Nigeria, has remained relevant in our country’s political life since the pre-independence era.
“His contributions and commitment to our national development are exemplary, and even with the passage of time, his voice and interventions on topical issues in our country and the Niger Delta region have not waned.
“We celebrate Pa Clark as a unique leader and nationalist. We are proud of him at all times.
“We earnestly pray that God Almighty continue to bless him as we look forward to his celebration of a century and beyond.
“I was joined on the visit by members of the Bayelsa caucus in the National Assembly, including Sen. Konbowei Benson, Honourables Fred Agbedi, Oforji Oboku and Rodney Ambaiowei as well as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, and a former Reps member and friend of our state, Hon. Gabriel Onyewife.
