Bayelsa PDP Congratulates Diri/Law On Tribunal Victory, Thanks Bayelsans For Support
Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has congratulated the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, over their well-deserved victory at the State Election Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Monday, dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the November 11th 2023 governorship election, Chief Timipre Sylva, for lacking in merit.
The party stated that by the verdict, the learned justices reaffirmed that the PDP and, indeed, their Excellencies were validly elected as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively.
In a press statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ebiye Ogoli,, the party congratulated the Governor and his amiable Deputy for emerging victorious in all the petitions brought before the Tribunal against their victory by five opposition political parties in the state.
“The PDP particularly thanks Bayelsans for their continued support and prayers for a favourable outcome of the litigations for the Governor and the stability of our dear State.
“Our party appreciates the learned Justices for upholding the truth and justice by reaffirming our unblemished victory at the polls given the true facts of what transpired on the 11th of November 2023 in the state.
“Admittedly, the battle is won and lost and we want to appeal to the opposition to bury the hatchet at this stage and join hands with the Governor and his team to move the state forward to greater heights.
“We have always maintained that power should be sourced at the hands of the citizenry. The time has come that no amount of political intimidation, suppression and brigandage can withstand or defeat a determined people whose hearts and minds are united for a common cause of progress.”
The party said it is delighted and commended Governor Douye Diri for the continued unprecedented life-changing legacy achievements in infrastructural development, citizen empowerment and human capital development projects that are turning the State around as a development hub and for which he was overwhelmingly re-elected by the people of Bayelsa State.
It also urged the Governor to continue on that trajectory towards delivering good governance in line with his policy thrust and his vision of a Shared Prosperity for all.
