Marine, Blue Economy Will Create Opportunities For Bayelsa – Gov. Diri
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri attended an expanded stakeholders validation for the State Marine and Blue Economy Draft Policy in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The stakeholders meeting which was held at Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, was attended by the workaholic and resourceful Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, respectively.
Also in attendance was the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, including other top government officials of the state government.
In his remarks, Governor Douye Diri said the creation of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, was to take advantage of the opportunities and privileges of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy created by President Bola Tinubu.
He stated that the state government is committed to completing the three senatorial roads that will lead to the Atlantic Ocean for more socio-economic opportunities for economic growth and development.
The state helmsman said to secure and ensure the safety of waters and coastlines, he is pleased to announce the establishment of a task force on marine safety.
He added that the task force will work in collaboration with federal agencies, local authorities and industry stakeholders to ensure the security of the marine environment.
Governor Diri further said that the prosperity government will champion the creation and establishment of Fish Cities to fuel an industry that will benefit the populace.
