Gov. Diri Urges Unity, Peace, Tolerance, Says God Will Determine Next Governor

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has urged individuals aspiring to succeed him as governor to seek God’s guidance and approval, stressing that the leadership of the state should be entrusted to a God-fearing person.

Hotnews reports that Governor Diri made the call on Monday during the 15th Annual Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Celebration held at the Ecumenical Centre, Igbogene, Yenagoa.

He stated that God has the final say in the affairs of Bayelsa, noting that no individual can frustrate anyone divinely chosen to lead the state.

According to him, Bayelsa has been committed to God’s hands, urging residents to remain prayerful, united, tolerant and peaceful, as these values are essential for the state’s continued development.

The Governor governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the people, noting that with the political will and the state’s favourable environment, his government remains determined to drive development across Bayelsa.

He expressed appreciation to the people for their support and steadfastness towards his administration over the past six years, describing the visible transformation of the state as sufficient reason to give thanks to God.

Diri further encouraged the people to maintain an attitude of gratitude, patience and faith, expressing confidence that their collective efforts and trust in God would yield positive results.

Present at the thanksgiving celebration were the Governor’s wives, Dr. Gloria Diri and Justice Patience Diri; Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, and his wife, Dr. Favour Akpe, amongst other dignitaries.
