Rivers Administrator Suspends Public Officers, Appointees

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has announced the indefinite suspension of all public office holders and political appointees in the state on Tuesday.

The suspension of all public office holders and political appointees in the state was contained in a statement issued by the Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd).

The suspension was made pursuant to the powers conferred on the Sole Administrator administrator by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, upon his appointment and swearing in to make regulations.

The suspension includes: Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, Chairmen and Members of all Boards, Councils of Agencies, Commissions, Institutions and Parastatals in the state.

Others are Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants including other political appointees of the state government.

The affected officers are to handover to the Permanent Secretaries in their MDAs. But where there may be no Permanent Secretary, they are to handover to the most Senior Director or Head of Administration.

The suspension takes effect from Wednesday, March, 26, 2025.
