Dickson Receives Amaechi, Danu Over D-Gov’s Death
The Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, received former governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, CON, over the death of his friend, Sen. E-Lawrenzi.
Hot News reports that the former governor and former minister visited the federal lawmaker on Thursday, 8th January, 2026, at his residence in Abuja to condole with him and his family over the unfortunate incident.
Senator Dickson, who recounted how Chief Amaechi called during the festive celebration to sympathize with him and his family, and also promised to visit when returned to the country, expressed profound gratitude to him for the visit.
He also received Alhaji Nasiru Danu, whom he described as a good friend and brother from Rivers State, who visited to condole with him and his family over the passing of the departed Bayelsa Deputy Governor.
The federal lawmaker thanking both leaders for finding time to visit, said he will convey their condolences to the family of Late Deputy Governor.
Senator Dickson commended them for their willingness to attend the funeral to pay their last respects to the late number-two man of Bayelsa, whom both leaders described as a gentleman and good man.
The statement read in parts: “I received a brother, prominent politician, former Governor of Rivers State, and former Minister, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, who visited to condole with me over the death of our amiable Deputy Governor, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
“Governor Amaechi had called me during the Christmas holiday to offer his condolences and assured me that he would visit as soon as he returned to the country. Today, he made good on that promise, for which I am grateful.
“I also received Alhaji Nasiru Danu, a Rivers man by birth and a good friend and brother over the years, who came to condole with me over the passing of E-Lawrenzi, who was very well known to him and for whom he had many fond memories.
“I thank them for finding the time to visit, and I will convey their condolences to the family of the late Deputy Governor. They also expressed their willingness to attend the funeral to pay their last respects to a man they both described as a gentleman and a good man.
