Road Infrastructure: Gov Diri Remarkable Track-Record

Since assuming office in February 2020, the Prosperity Administration of Governor Douye Diri has pursued an ambitious infrastructure development agenda aimed at transforming Bayelsa State towards improving connectivity, sustainable economic growth, and public service delivery backed on transparency and accountability.
Under the banner of the Prosperity Government led by Senator Douye Diri, several landmark projects have been initiated, completed, and commissioned across the state, redefining the developmental landscape of the Glory of All Lands.
A major hallmark of the prosperity administration has been the construction and expansion of strategic socio-economic road projects in linking communities that were previously difficult to access by road to the state capital and beyond.
Remarkable road projects such as the GloryDrive Dual Carriageway Phase 1&2, Sagbama–Ekeremor Road, Igbogene-AIT-Bayelsa Palm Ring Road, Agbura-Otuoke Road, Oxbow Lake-Agbura Road, LNG-Onopa Road, New Yenagoa City Roads (1–6), Opolo-Elebele Road Dualization, Okaka High-Profile Road Dualization, Sampou Road Dualization, Tombia-Amassoma Road Dualization, and many more have significantly enhanced transportation and economic activities in the state.
Other ongoing landmark road projects are the Nembe–Brass Road, GloryDrive Phase 3 Road, Ekeremor-Ndoro-Agge Road, Akaba–Ogu–Okodi Road, Sabagreia-Polaku Road, Yenagoa-Ukubie-Oporoma Road, Okumbiri-Egbemo Angalabiri Road, Agbere-Abuetor-Osifo-Asimabiri-Elemebiri Road, and many more projects to connect rural communities to the state capital to enhance economic activities.
The completion and inauguration of the Angiama–Oporoma Bridge has further strengthened connectivity by road in the riverine communities in Southerner-Ijaw, which has enhanced socio-economic activities creating new opportunities of business and infrastructural development basically.
The Prosperity Administration has also made remarkable strides in urban renewal through the construction of modern drainage systems, internal roads, and public infrastructure within Yenagoa and other communities.
The ongoing Nine-Storey State Secretariat Complex, designed to improve administrative efficiency and service delivery, stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to institutional development.
In the power sector, the successful delivery of the 60MW Independent Power Project represents a significant step toward improving electricity supply and stimulating industrial growth. The project is expected to boost economic activities, attract investments, and support small and medium-scale enterprises across the state.
Beyond road infrastructure and power, the prosperity administration has invested heavily in sports infrastructure, housing development, and public facilities, including the ongoing international-standard stadium project. These projects underscore a deliberate effort to create a modern, economically vibrant, and globally competitive Bayelsa State.
As Bayelsa reflects on the journey of the Prosperity Government, the tremendous visible transformational development across the state’s infrastructure landscape, stands as evidence of purposeful leadership and strategic planning on service delivery as the people-oriented administration.
