Diri Reaffirms Commitment To Women’s Participation In Politics
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting greater women participation in politics and leadership, stressing that women remain critical partners in governance and nation-building.
Hotnews reports that speaking at the reception marking the 60th birthday of the member representing Sagbama Constituency III in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, in Yenagoa, Governor Diri said his administration would continue to support initiatives that encourages more women participation in politics.
The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, stated that the prosperity government commitment to women participation in politics is obviously reflected in the several government offices handled by women in the current administration.
However, he urged women across the country to present competent and capable candidates who can effectively compete and contribute meaningfully to governance.
Describing Mrs. Ndiomu-Brown as a shining example of excellence, the Governor commended her outstanding record of service and dedication to public office.
Earlier at a thanksgiving service held at the Divine Grace Model Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Kpansia, Dr. Akpe described the celebrant as an embodiment of God’s grace.
Preaching on the theme, “From Strength to Strength,” he encouraged Christians to continually rely on God for renewed strength to overcome life’s challenges and fulfill their purpose.
The Deputy Governor congratulated Mrs. Ndiomu-Brown on attaining the milestone age of 60, praying for continued good health, wisdom, and greater accomplishments.
Chairman of the occasion, Vice Admiral Victor Ombu, also lauded the lawmaker for upholding the values and legacy of her late father, Major General Charles Ndiomu, and her mother, Mrs. Grace Ndiomu.
In her remarks, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Peter Akpe, her colleagues, friends, and family members for celebrating the landmark occasion with her.
