Tolumo Promises Inclusive Leadership After Picking Interest & Nomination Form

A frontline chairmanship aspirant for the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Central Zone, Comrade Tolumo Akia, has officially picked up his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form to contest for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming zonal primaries.

The nomination form was obtained from the Zonal Electoral Committee (ZELECO) in accordance with the laid down electoral guidelines and procedures for the conduct of the IYC Central Zone election, signaling Comrade Akia’s formal entry into the race for the highly coveted position.

The event attracted supporters, political associates, youth leaders, and well-wishers who accompanied the aspirant to the venue in a show of solidarity and confidence in his leadership aspiration.

The atmosphere was marked by excitement, chants of support, and renewed optimism among members of the Ijaw youth constituency who described the moment as a significant step toward a new chapter for the council in the zone.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, Comrade Akia expressed appreciation to his supporters and reiterated his determination to provide purposeful, visionary, and inclusive leadership for Ijaw youths across the Central Zone.

According to him, the Ijaw Youth Council remains a critical platform for promoting the interests, welfare, and collective aspirations of Ijaw youths, stressing that the time had come for committed and people-oriented leadership capable of repositioning the organization for greater relevance and impact.

He pledged to prioritize youth empowerment, unity, advocacy, and capacity building while also promoting peace and cooperation among member clans and communities within the zone.

Comrade Akia further assured that his administration, if elected, would focus on strengthening the voice of Ijaw youths, encouraging active participation in leadership and development processes, and protecting the collective interests of the Ijaw nation.

He noted that the challenges confronting youths in the region require proactive leadership built on experience, integrity, accessibility, and a genuine passion for service, adding that he possesses the necessary capacity and commitment to move the council forward.

Supporters at the event described his aspiration as a movement inspired by competence, credibility, and a sincere desire to reposition the IYC Central Zone for progress, inclusiveness, and effective representation.
