Akpabio Commends Dickson As NDC Founder, Nat. Leader
The former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State and serving Senator representing Akwa-Ibom North-West, and President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has proudly commended the former Governor of Bayelsa State and serving Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
Hotnews gathered that Akpabio and Dickson, who are former Governors and serving Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has publicly had altercations, confrontations pertaining decisions on democratic principles.
The Senate President, Senator Akpabio made the commendation after reading a formal letter addressed to the Senate by Senator Dickson of his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and affiliation with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in plenary.
The federal lawmaker whose decision of resignation from the PDP influenced by internal party issues, stated that the decision became imperative as a result of the prevailing leadership crisis and divisions within that has greatly affected the party for several years.
Senator Dickson, who is the founder and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), received loud commendation from the senate president and colleagues in plenary, as the first ranking senator, who is a national leader of a political party.
“So, it is now my honor for the senate to have a record, and reflected as the first senator in Nigeria to represent a constituency, and at the same time, to found a party known as the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” Akpabio said.
Senator Akpabio proudly commending Senator Dickson, said indeed, he is the first serving senator to found a political party in Nigeria, and proudly congratulated him that he is leaving the PDP at a time the party is in tatas.
“On this your great achievement, we members of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, are very proud of you,” Akpabio proudly said.
