APC Publicity Secretary Calls For Gov. Diri’s Immediate Impeachment.

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, doubled as the Publicity Secretary of APC National Youth Council South-South Zone, Comr Preye Bagou, has called on the immediate impeachment of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State for financial incompetence and mismanagement.

Bagou made this known while addressing some newsmen in Yenagoa the state capital, described Gov. Diri led prosperity administration as a total failure.

Bagou described the prosperity administration of Governor Douye Diri, as a government of ongoing projects without completion since assumption in office in February 14th 2020, despite the constant increase of monthly allocations from the federation account in the past thirty two months.

“The Governor Douye Diri led prosperity administration will be three years in the next five months but, no meaningful infrastructural development and human capital development has been recorded in the State, rather than ongoing projects while neighbouring state governors are busy commissioning meaningful projects on daily and monthly basis.

Bagou stated categorically that the Gov. Diri’s administration has been receiving the highest increase of monthly allocations from the federation account for the past ten months, which is the highest monthly allocations from the federation account ever in the history of the state.

Monthly allocations from federation account from January 2022 to September 2022 is listed as follows:

He added that previous state governors received very low monthly allocations from the federation account due to economic challenges (recession) yet, performed tremendously in carrying out meaningful infrastructural projects and human capital development programs without an excuse of the environment and weather conditions, like always used by Gov. Diri.

“The 13% derivation from the federation account to oil producing communities, including internal generated revenue has been on the increase under the present administration, the prosperity government but, no commensurate infrastructure since assumption in office in february 2020, which is a clear indication of incompetence of Gov. Diri.

Bagou stated that the biggest celebrated achievement of the Gov. Diri led prosperity administration, is the payment of salaries without implementation of promotions and minimum wage to local government workers in the state since assumption in office, which has greatly affected the welfare of local government workers in the state.

He lamented about the neglect and not improvement of health and educational facilities in the state by the Gov. Diri’s administration, stressing that health and educational facilities are in a dilapidated state, despite the loans obtained amounting to billions of naira to improve the sectors, fully knowing the economic importance of the sectors.

Bagou stated categorically that Governor Douye Diri is incompetent in handling the office of a governor, considering the low level of performance with huge monthly allocations since assumption in office in february 2020, stressing that Gov. Diri should be impeached immediately without delay for mismanagement of state resources.
