Labour Party Governorship Aspirant, Blessing Azibanagbai Petitions Udengs Eradiri, Ask Court To Nullify His Candidature

Governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 11th Bayelsa Gubernatorial election, Mrs Blessing Clement Azibanagbai, has challenged outcome of the party governorship primary election in Federal High Court, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Recall that Labour Party conducted the governorship primary election on the 16th of April, 2023, which produced Mr Udengs Eradiri as the governorship candidate of the party for the November 11th gubernatorial election.
The petition suit No:FHC/YNG/CS/92/2023, where Mrs Blessing Clement Azibanagbai, as the plaintiff, while Labour Party, Mr Udengs Eradiri and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as first, second and third defendants.
The plaintiff, Mrs Blessing Clement Azibanagbai, is asking the court for the cancellation of the party governorship primary election that produced Mr Udengs Eradiri as the governorship candidate of the party.
Mrs Blessing Clement Azibanagbai, who fully participated in the Labour Party governorship primary election, is requesting that the court declare the outcome of the party governorship primary election that produced Mr Udengs Eradiri as illegal, null and void.
She is further directing the court to give an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing Mr Udengs Eradiri as the governorship candidate of the party for the November 11th gubernatorial election.
Sources reveals that the federal high court will be seating within the week to commence legal proceedings of the petition. If the petitioner’s request is granted, then Labour Party will be out of the ballot in the November 11th gubernatorial election.
