Breaking News: Preye Bagou Dumps NDC, Joins APC
Practicing journalist and blogger, Preye Bagou, has officially resigned his membership from the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and defected to the All Progressives Congress.
A statement released to newsmen on Wednesday, Bagou reiterated the important need to realign with the ruling party in the state and federal to contribute more effectively to Nigeria’s political development.
He emphasized his commitment to progressive governance, national unity, and grassroots development, noting that the APC–as the ruling party provides a stronger platform to actualize these fundamental goals.
Bagou confirmed that his decision to leave the NDC was based on personal considerations, which he described as necessary at this stage of his career and public life. He noted that the move followed a period of deep reflection and consultation with close associates and stakeholders.
“I have taken this decision after careful thought and for personal reasons that I believe are in my best interest at this time,” he stated.
Bagou apologizing to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, for his earlier decision, described it as a hasty decision without proper consideration of their relationship.
“As a fast-growing young politician, I have thought it wise not to abandon well-established relationships in the government, where I served in different capacities–as TA and SSA.
Although Bagou did not outline any immediate political ambitions, his move is seen by some analysts as a strategic repositioning ahead of future political engagements.
He described the APC as a platform through which he hopes to continue contributing to national development and democratic institutions system.
Meanwhile, stakeholders of the APC in Bayelsa have reportedly welcomed Bagou’s decision, describing it as a positive addition to the party’s growing formidable grassroot base and support structure in the state.
Political observers note that such defections, especially involving media personalities and grassroots influencers, can have ripple effects within local political structures.
