Senator Dickson Reaffirms Commitment To PDP, Commends Loyal Members
By Preye Bagou, Yenagoa
Former governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has encouraged committed members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state not to be deterred.
Senator Dickson while responding to questions from the press on the resignation of PDP members in Bayelsa, said the people (voters) at the grassroot who constitute the organic membership of the party are still intact, committed to the party.
The former governor said he believes that himself and other leaders, stakeholders and all products of the PDP in Bayelsa and the Ijaw Nation, have a duty to show loyalty, commitment and steadfastness to the party to the very end, rather than taking the easiest root to bail out.
Senator Dickson who reiterated his unwavering commitment to the PDP, said his life and values on constancy, consistency, principles, dedication, honour, integrity and loyalty to the people have not changed despite the political challenges in the party.
He said the PDP gave the people of Bayelsa the opportunity to be Vice President, Acting President, and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And as Governor, he branded PDP as the party of the Ijaw Nation, same way he branded Bayelsa as the Jerusalem of the Ijaw Nation.
Reiterating unwavering commitment to reposition the PDP in the state, he said he will consult with other leaders and stakeholders of the party to begin the process of rebuilding the party as an opposition party that the PDP has become in the state, sadly.
He used the medium to commend all loyal and steadfast officials, stakeholders and leaders of the PDP in the state who have decided to keep faith with the party in this trying time of unwarranted and unpleasant political imbalance in the party.
