Dickson Represents Bayelsa, Attends Constitution Review Panel Meeting In Lagos

Former governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, joined distinguished colleagues and others to attend the meeting of the Constitution Review Panel in Lagos.

Senator Dickson who represented Bayelsa as a member of the Senate Committee for the panel of the constitution review, printed out the pertinent need to review the Nigerian constitution for improved democratic system of justice, equity, fairness.

The constitution review committee is a joint national assembly committee comprising of members of the house of representatives and the senate charged with the responsibility for the amendment of the constitution.

The joint national assembly committee is a special committee tasked with proposing alterations to the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

The committee involves considering proposals for amendments on various issues, including state police, local government autonomy, fiscal federalism, and gender inclusion amongst other challenging issues.

The constitution review panel was established to hold public hearings, and consulting with stakeholders to gather inputs and proposals for necessary changes and amendments of the constitution.
