Diri Charges Exco Members Of Selfless Service Delivery

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has charged public office holders in the state to always put the interes of the people and the state first while carrying out their functions for the purpose of accountability of projects, policies and programmes of the government.

The governor stated this during the 160th State Executive Council Meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

He said the overwhelming support his administration has received from the people of Bayelsa State is what has led to the peace and security of the state since assumption in office.

Governor Diri while commending Vanguard Newspaper and Maritime Industry for the Good Governance Awards, said the awards are not made possible by him alone but to the people of Bayelsa State.

His words: “let us all continue to do our bits that will lead to a whole, in our different ministries, departments and agencies for the sole interest of our people and the state.

“First of all, put the interest of the state high and above our personal interest, and that is the only way we can work together to achieve great results, and our achievements be recognized outside the state.

“You can recall that the Guild of Editors had their meeting in Bayelsa State, and they visited most of our ongoing project sites and saw things for themselves, and commended us.

“So, our government’s awards of good governance are not awards that some people go to buy, it is awards that actually motivates, as well-deserved and merited awards.

During the state council meeting, the Best Maritime Friendly Governor of the Year Award was presented to Governor Douye Diri by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Nimibofa Ayawei at the chambers.

Recall that the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Nimibofa Ayawei received the award on behalf of the governor in Lagos.
