Diri Pays Final Respects To Late Ezinne Christiana Opara

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Wednesday joined former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Governors of Abia and Bauchi States, Dr. Alex Otti and Senator Bala Mohammed, as well as other eminent Nigerians at the funeral of Chief Ezinne Christiana Opara in Imo State.

Hotnews reports that the funeral service for the late Chief Opara, who died at the age of 83, was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Umuopara Obetiti Nguru Mbaise, in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Chief Christiana Opara was the mother of Prof. John Kennedy Opara, Chairman of CSS Group, and her funeral attracted prominent political leaders, public officials, business personalities, community leaders, family members and other well-wishers who gathered to honour her life and legacy.

Governor Diri’s presence at the solemn occasion underscored his solidarity with the Opara family and his recognition of the importance of standing with families and communities during moments of grief.

The Bayelsa governor joined other dignitaries in paying their final respects to the deceased, who was remembered for her contributions to her family and community and for the values she instilled in her children.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for prominent Nigerians from different parts of the country to share in the grief of the Opara family and offer prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed.

Governor Diri was accompanied to the funeral by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai; Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Bekes Sese.

Others were Commissioner for Special Duties, Bayelsa Central, Hon. Sylvanus Mandy Akpalo; Commissioner for Special Duties/General Duties, Mazi Onuma Johnson; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Rev. God’sPower Asingba.
Other top officials of the Bayelsa State Government also accompanied the governor to the funeral.

The funeral service concluded with prayers and tributes as family members, friends and dignitaries bid farewell to the 83-year-old matriarch.

Governor Diri’s participation in the ceremony further demonstrated the importance he places on friendship, compassion and solidarity, particularly in times of bereavement, as he joined other leaders in commiserating with Prof. John Kennedy Opara and the entire Opara family over their loss.
