Former Acting Governor Of Bayelsa, Nestor Binabo Is Dead…Details Of Death Emerges

Former Acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Rt. Hon. Nestor Binabo has passed on, in the early hours of Thursday 29th June, 2023, in an undisclosed hospital in Abuja, the federal capital territory of Nigeria.

Hot News reports that the deceased was admitted to an undisclosed hospital in the federal capital territory in the late hours of yesterday, after complaint of stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.

The shocking news of his sudden death was confirmed by a member of his family through a phone call in the morning hours of today. He reportedly passed on around 4:00am in the undisclosed hospital this morning.

Reliable sources reveals that the deceased has being battling with his heath in the past few years, stressing that he was even flown abroad for medical treatment in 2021, before his sudden death.

BRIEF BACKGROUND CHECK OF THE DECEASED.

Rt. Hon. Nestor K. Binabo hails from Okumbiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

He was a businessman and politician who was well respected by the political class and the populace, as a result of his enormous contributions to humanity and society at large.

Binabo was elected as member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Sagbama Constituency || in 2007. He was subsequently elected as a member of the state house of assembly in 2011.

He became Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in July 2011, after his predecessor, Rt. Hon. Werinipre Seibarugo was appointed as Deputy Governor, following the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi.

Binabo was made Acting Governor of Bayelsa State on the 27th of January 2012, following the removal of the then Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva along with four other Governors nationwide by Supreme Court.

As Acting Governor, he conducted fresh gubernatorial election in the state in accordance with the supreme court ruling and INEC, which led to the emergence of Henry Seriake Dickson as Governor of Bayelsa State.

Binabo left office as acting governor on the 14th of February 2012, after swearing-in Henry Seriake Dickson as the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State.

He subsequently resigned the speakership, considering the fact that himself and Dickson hail from the same senatorial district.
