Gov. Diri Receives AFN Delegation In Govt House
…Says Niger Delta has witnessed progress in Sports Development
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri received in courtesy visit of a delegation of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria led by its President, Chief Tonobok Okowa, in Government House, Yenagoa.
Hot News gathered that the delegation is in Bayelsa for the 2025 Athletics Federation of Nigeria Extra-ordinary congress to usher in a new leadership executives to manage the affairs of the association in the federation.
In his remarks, Governor Diri thanked the association for choosing Yenagoa as its destination for the congress, and assured government’s readiness to always support sports development in the state.
The governor said his administration is building a world class 25,000 seater stadium to give sports men and women the conducive environment and facilities to succeed, knowing well that there are abundance of talents in the state and across the Niger Delta region.
“It’s been a steady history of progress in the sports sector, particularly for us in the Niger Delta and Bayelsa precisely, and I am so happy today because we have maintained that leadership as a government over the years.
“I welcome you all to Bayelsa, and I am sure you will enjoy the hospitality of our people,” the governor added.
The first Vice President of Nigeria Olympics Committee, Chief Solomon Ogba amongst others were part of the delegation for the courtesy visit to the governor.
