N34B Sagbama-Ekeremor Road: Gov. Diri Lied To Cover Up The Looting Of The N92B 13% Derivation Refunds – Group
…Says only N8 billion has been spent on the road.
The APC Integrity Group has accused the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri of using the Sagbama-Ekeremor road to cover up the looting of the N92 billion 13 percent derivation refunds from the federation account as backlog payment of deductions on 13 percent derivation to oil-producing states in the Niger Delta region.
In a statement sent to newsmen of hotnews, the group alleged that the governor has made several attempts in the bid to cover up the looted funds of the 13 percent derivation arrears from the federation account, due to the outcry and constant demand of Bayelsans to account for the use of the funds.
Governor Douye Diri has resulted in telling lies to Bayelsans of spending N34 billion on the Sagbama-Ekeremor road which was almost completion before the current administration, including other minor projects in the state just to cover up the N92 billion 13% derivation refunds.
The group wondered how a governor who was part of the previous government, the restoration government led by Henry Seriake Dickson will without shame claim to have spent N34 billion on a road that was near completion, and was celebrated in the state before the current administration.
The Sagbama-Ekeremor road is a project that the transition committee inspected the level of work done, which the committee was satisfied with the state of the road, and made recommendation to the then governor-elect, David Lyon for immediate completion as a project at the stage of almost completion.
Governor Douye Diri is only interested in looting tax payers money to prepare for his reelection without any tangible project. The government has resulted to telling lies to deceive Bayelsans about projects of the previous government just to cover up the looted funds.
Investigation from the construction company, Setraco construction company through a staff revealed that only less than N8 billion has been spent on the completion of the Sagbama-Ekeremor road, and not the alleged N34 billion by the governor.
The prosperity government led by Governor Douye Diri has been receiving huge monthly faac allocations from the federation account, yet has obtained N72 billion loan in 33months without commensurate infrastructure in the State.
The projects done by the previous government are the projects Douye Diri is using to campaign as legacy developmental projects of his administration, leaving Bayelsans to perish in abject poverty to the extent of people commiting suicide as a result of the high level of hunger and poverty rate in the State.
Douye Diri lies about the 13 percent derivation refunds has once again shown the deceitfulness and cluelessness of the government, which has no plan to improve the welfare of Bayelsans, rather than impoverishing the people. Bayelsans should wake up, by not allowing themselves to be continuously deceived by the governor.
Bayelsa for the very first time in the history of the State, has been recorded as the second poorest State in the whole Country according to national bureau of statistics under the current administration.
