The Niger Delta Peace Initiative (NDPI), has condemned in strong terms of the misleading claims of denial of stipends to beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) from Asaraba Pillar Camp in Epebu in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
In a statement issued by the group Coordinator, Comrade John Raphael, described the unfounded malicious claims against the presidential amnesty programme of denial of stipends to beneficiaries in Asaraba pillar camp in Epebu, as baseless and misinterpretation of the facts.
“The Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro is a law-abiding citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and can not disobey a decision of the court, as an institution that interprets the laws of the land and the constitution.
John while refuting malicious claims of the purported publication, clearly pointed out that the matter is before the Port-harcourt division of the Court of Appeal, and waiting for court proceedings for further legal interpretation of the matter.
The group said the mischievous claims is purposely targeted at maligning the office and reputation of the coordinator of the presidential amnesty programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, stressing that no amnesty beneficiaries is owed stipends.
“Dr Dennis Otuaro since inception in office has ensured prompt payment of monthly stipend to amnesty beneficiaries knowing the current economic situation in the country.
The group stated clearly that under the able leadership of Dr Dennis Otuaro, amnesty beneficiaries whose monthly stipends were affected due to bank verification number issues were cleared and paid including those from Ogbia local government area.
John described Nicholas Nathaniel’s malicious claims of stipends denial to beneficiaries despite federal high court judgment as attention-seeking publication from the coordinator of the presidential amnesty programme for personal beneficial grounds.
He urged Nicholas Nathaniel whose personal details are not in the record of the presidential amnesty programme as a beneficiary to stop further publications intended to defame the reputation of the amnesty boss, Chief Dennis Otiotio.
“The matter is before the Court of Appeal in Port-harcourt division, and we should wait for the outcome of the court judicial interpretation of the matter, rather than spreading falsehood to malign the office of the coordinator,” the group added.
