Obasanjo Is Part Of The Foundation Of The Problems We Have In Nigeria – Bolaji Akinyemi

Former Foreign Minister, Bolaji Akinyemi has slammed Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo for pretending to be having solutions to Nigeria’s problems in a letter to Nigerians while declaring his support for the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.

Recall that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo recently endorsed the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi as the most preferred presidential candidate in the forthcoming presidential election.

Akinyemi speaking on channels television accused Obasanjo of being responsible for most of the problems the country is experiencing at the moment, as the first democratic president of the country.

Akinyemi stated that the Obasanjo should not act as a saint while addressing national issues of the country, stressing that he is the part of the foundation of the problems the country is facing at the moment.

In his words, and I quote:

“Some of us believe that he is also part of the foundation of the problems we have in this country.

“One of the things I had said is, if you have occupied that position and you have served your term, please go home and relax like General Gowon, Abdulsalam etc.

“You had your term and served for good eight years, even wanting to extend your tenure by trying to amend the two tenure system in the country.

“Let others have a taste of the position, and put in their experience, knowledge and ideas of leadership towards building a better nation and society for Nigerians.

“It is worrisome to see him act like a saint and problem solver, after creating problems for Nigerians while he was president.

“He should be quiet and play the role of an elder statesman rather than supporting presidential candidates, and start talking like a saint.
