Senator Dickson Led High-Powered Delegation To Visit Successor, Gov. Diri At Country Home In Sampou
The Former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, yesterday led a high-powered delegation to visit his successor, Governor Douye Diri at his country home in Sampou Community.
The high-powered delegation led by the Federal Lawmaker was to wish the governor happy new year at his country home in Sampou, as he has always done in the past three years.
Recall that Governor Douye Diri had earlier paid a Christmas visit to his predecessor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson at his country home in Toru-Orua community to celebrate the yuletide, which is a usual practice of the Governor since assumption in office.
Senator Dickson once again congratulated Governor Diri on his re-election in the November 11th 2023 gubernatorial election, used the medium to convey felicitations, goodwill messages and prayers to the Governor for the new year, and successful second tenure in office.
Senator Dickson while in the Governor’s country home in Sampou, was briefly invited to welcome Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, who came to congratulate Governor Diri on his re-election, and tender goodwill messages for the new year.
The Ofuruma-Pepe commended the brotherly visit among Governors in the zone, which is a tradition that had been destroyed due to what he called toxic and unnecessary politics of rivalry that has deprived the zone of maximum benefit and leverage nationally.
As the Chairman of the South-South Senate Caucus, he wished Governors of the zone well in their administrations, and urged them to restore good working relationship among themselves in the zone and beyond as our people deserves.
Senator Dickson joined in the call for reconciliation and peace in the sister state Rivers, and appealed to the parties involved to have tolerance, forgiveness and accommodate each other for the peace and development of the state.
