Why Sagbama APC Should Be Considered With Sensitive Appointments In Tinubu/Shettima’s Administration

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State since the inception of the party has shown loyalty and commitment towards the growth and development of the party in different ramifications which can’t be understated.

Leaders and stakeholders of the party in the local government area was not considered with any sensitive or juicy federal appointment under the eight years administration of the President Muhammadu Buhari led APC Federal Government to strengthen the party support base.

Members of the party in the local government area had over time stood firm in supporting and defending the party at all times believing that the party national leadership will reward critical leaders with federal appointments in order to strengthen the party support base in the local government area.

Sagbama Local Government Area is the stronghold of the ruling party, the People’s Democratic Party in the State. However, the APC has a very strong support base in various communities and wards across the local government regardless of the numerous appointees of the ruling party, the PDP.

For record purposes; it is necessary and pertinent to note that no core party man or woman was given a sensitive appointment under the President Muhammadu Buhari led APC led federal government, rather than non-party members were given juicy appointments and fought against the interest of the party.

Investigations indicates that over four sensitive appointments had been made in Sagbama Local Government under the APC led federal government, and all ended up working against the interest of the party including the current Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, as non-party members.

The incoming administration of the party by the President-Elect Bola Tinubu must ensure that the abnormality is corrected under his administration in order to encourage party men and women which will strengthen the party support base in various states across the country.

Sagbama Local Government is the stronghold of the ruling party, the PDP with a seating Deputy Governor, Former Governor and current Senator representing the Senatorial District, Acting Chief of Staff, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Commissioner for Finance, Chairman Bayelsa State Volunteer and others too numerous to mention.

The Sagbama APC as an opposition and the stronghold of the PDP pulled a total votes of 4,603 in the presidential and national assembly elections, which contributed immensely to the victory of the party Presidential Candidate and the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu and the Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima.

A breakdown of the performance of the APC in various Local Government Areas in Bayelsa State: Brass pulled 3,684 votes, Ekeremor pulled 4,398 votes, Kolga pulled 4,137 votes, Nembe pulledh 3,005 votes, Ogbia pulled 8,444 votes, Sagbama pulled 4,603 votes, Southern-Ijaw pulled 7,650 votes, Yenagoa pulled 6,651 votes in the presidential election.

The above result in the presidential and national assembly elections is a clear indication of hard work by critical leaders and stakeholders of the APC in various local government areas across the state, as an opposition party in the state.

Leaders of the party in the local government such as; Hon. Yekini Nabena, Hon. Francis Kolokolo Esq, Hon. Tangi Samuel, Hon. Ofoni Williams, Hon. Ebitimi Amgbare, Hon. Michael Olomu and few others behind the scene had been working tirelessly towards the growth and development of the party at various level over the years.

Leaders, stakeholders, supporters of the APC in Sagbama local government is hereby appealing to the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu and the Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima to consider the local government with sensitive appointments while setting up members of the Federal Executive Council.
