2027: Bayelsa APC Calls For United Course,Reconciliation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has intensified efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections, by convening a strategic unity and peace-building meeting with state and national assembly aspirants who participated in the recently concluded party primaries.

Hotnews gathered that the high-level meeting, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders and aspirants from across the state, was aimed at fostering reconciliation, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning the party for a united and victorious outing in the forthcoming elections.

Representing the Governor and Leader of the APC in Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, commended all aspirants for demonstrating maturity, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the conduct of the party primaries.

He noted that the peaceful disposition exhibited by the aspirants reflected their collective commitment to the growth of the APC and urged them to sustain the spirit of unity as the party shifts its focus to the general elections.

Dr. Akpe emphasized that no political party can achieve electoral success without genuine reconciliation and collective resolve, charging all aspirants and members to embrace forgiveness, peace and understanding in the overall interest of the party.

According to him, every member remains a critical stakeholder in the APC project, stressing that the strength of the party lies in its ability to unite behind its candidates and work towards a common objective.

The Deputy Governor further appealed to aggrieved members to place the party above individual interests, assuring them that every loyal member would continue to have a place in the party’s future in the scheme of things.

In his remarks, the Bayelsa State APC Chairman, Rt. Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, appreciated the aspirants, party leaders, stakeholders and members for their steadfast loyalty, commitment and sacrifices toward the growth of the APC in the state.

He described the strategic meeting as timely and necessary, stating that the strategic meeting demonstrated the party’s determination to resolve internal differences through dialogue and reconciliation.

Rt. Hon. Ogoriba called on members to close ranks, forgive one another and work collectively towards building a stronger and more formidable APC capable of securing overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections.

He stressed that unity remains the greatest weapon for political success and urged party faithful at all levels to remain focused on the common goal of delivering victory for all APC candidates in the general elections.

The meeting was attended by several prominent party leaders and government officials, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia; the Bayelsa State APC Women Leader, Hon. Mrs. Rose Itoko Amadi; the Bayelsa State APC Secretary, Barr. Japan Udoji; the immediate past Bayelsa State APC Chairman, Chief Dennis Otiotio, Ph.D; the former State Chairman, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, as well as other notable stakeholders.

Discussions at the meeting centered on strategies for strengthening party structures, enhancing grassroots mobilization, promoting peaceful coexistence among members, and ensuring effective coordination ahead of the electioneering campaign.

The strategic meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by party leaders, stakeholders and aspirants to put aside all grievances, promote unity and intensify grassroots mobilization across the eight local government areas of the state.

Participants unanimously resolved to work collectively towards ensuring a landslide victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, reaffirming that a united and peaceful party remains the surest path to electoral success in Bayelsa State.
