Immediate Past Council Chairmen In Bayelsa Laments Over Neglect By Governor Douye Diri

Immediate past Council Chairmen of the eight Local Government Areas in Bayelsa State has expressed their bitterness over neglect by the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri since assumption in office.

The past council chairmen who are stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, played a major role in the emergence of Governor Douye Diri during the 2019 Bayelsa gubernatorial election under the restoration government led by Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

Hot News gathered that majority of the council chairmen are aggrieved with the governor, due to his style of leadership in managing the affairs of the PDP in the state, mostly the detachment of critical stakeholders in the prosperity government since inception.

A past council chairman who prefer to be anonymous while interacting with a newsman of hot news complained bitterly of deliberate disengagement by the governor, stressing that majority of them had been abandoned since they left office in August 2022.

“The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri as the leader of the party, the PDP in the state, has deliberately refused to engage critical stakeholders who worked so hard for his emergence in the 2019 gubernatorial election” he said.

He said majority of them including their followers are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) simply because of their respect and loyalty to the Former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

The past council chairman further stated that majority of them will leave the party to the contending opposition party, the APC, if the Governor Douye Diri as the leader of the PDP in the state refuse to engage critical stakeholders of the party.

“Governor Douye Diri will be shocked with the outcome of the November 11th gubernatorial election, if he refuse to do the needful as expected from his administration” he said.
