Breaking: Senators Divided Over Tinubu’s Ministerial Nominees List
There were some level of tension among senators on Thursday, 20th July, 2023, as the senate received the ministerial nominees list from President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu sent the ministerial nominees list to the 10th national assembly (senate) for screening and confirmation on Wednesday, 19th July, 2023.
The ministerial nominees list is one big issue that is threatening to divide the senate from top down to the middle after group of senators questioned why some names popped-up again on the list.
The country’s second powerful body had embarked on a closed door meeting around 11.59a.m to deliberate on the ministerial nominees believed to have been submitted by the Presidency.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, announced that the Senators should go into an executive session after the leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) had made the announcement.
Although details of the meeting is still being kept under wraps, but it remains to be seen how the Senator intend to have one house to ensure a positive and effective celebration on the lists of ministerial nominees.
