Bagou Congratulates Gov. Diri As Chairman, S-S Governors Forum

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hot News, Mr Preye Bagou, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri on his emergence as Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum.

Bagou in a congratulatory statement issued on Wednesday, 29th of January, 2025, in Yenagoa, the state capital, described Governor Diri’s emergence as a great step in the right direction towards uniting and building stronger working relationship among the governors.

“Senator Douye Diri’s emergence as Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum, will further strengthen the forum’s unity, stability, which will restructure the forum towards attainment of strategic projects in the respective states in the Niger Delta region,” he added.

The chief executive officer of Hot News, said he has no doubt that the forum will record tremendous improvements and achievements under Governor Diri’s leadership, as an experienced leader in public office over the decades impressively.

“The communique issued by the South-South Governors Forum after Governor Diri’s emergence as Chairman, has clearly shown that there is a new dawn in the governors forum, as the respective states will record laudable achievements.

Bagou said the oil-rich south-south region that contributes about 60% of the country’s GDP, and about 70% of budget revenues of Nigeria, has been so unfortunate in infrastructural development, that will boost socio-economic activities to improve the people’s welfare in the region.

He added that the south-south region has been faced with various environmental challenges, ranging from environmental degradation leading land, water and air pollution, due to oil-production and gas flaring caused by multinational oil companies operating in the region.

Bagou while stressing the need for collaborative participation between the governors to achieve tangible results, called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the infrastructural development of the south-south region consciously and intentionally.

While congratulating, commending the peace-loving Governor, Senator Douye Diri on his emergence as Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum, he stressed the great importance for sustained peace, unity, stability for growth and development in the region.

“The south-south region is in great need of infrastructural development, which the governors, national assembly members and other critical stakeholders from the region, needs to work together collectively for the development of the region basically.
