The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, has dissociated himself from a recent report in the media attributing his rumoured arrest to the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

Dr. Ogbuku condemned in strong terms of the news report attributed to a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which insinuated a rift between himself and Governor Diri, and cautioned that there is no rivalry in the APC Family in Bayelsa.

In a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the NDDC MD, Dr. Willie Etim, the Managing Director debunked the report that he maintains a good relationship with the Governor, and the Governor couldn’t have ordered for his arrest.

Dr. Ogbuku clarified that comments or opinions expressed by anyone on political matters concerning him in Bayelsa, should be regarded strictly as their personal opinions or views, and not his opinions on the issue.

The rebuttal statement read in parts:

“It’s also important to clarify that any comments or opinions expressed by anyone on political matters in Bayelsa State should be regarded strictly as their personal views and not as a representation of the views or position of Dr. Ogbuku.

“The purported attempt to link the Governor to political controversies or rumours of arrest is both misleading, mischievous and unnecessary.

“I want to use this medium to express my sincere apology for any embarrassment the publications may have caused the Governor.

“I hereby call on all APC faithfuls in Bayelsa to exercise restraint in public commentaries, especially when such remarks could mislead the public or misrepresent the facts on ground.
