Gov Diri Visits Fire Incident, Directs Detail Investigation
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed deep sympathy with victims of the fire incident that occurred on Friday at Baybridge, Kpansia, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Hotnews reports that the Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, visited the scene of the incident to assess the extent of damage caused by the inferno.
He was accompanied by top officials of relevant government agencies, including the Comptroller of the Federal Fire Service, Mr. Diton Amos and Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Daniel Iyamah.
While addressing journalists during an on-the-spot assessment, Governor Diri described the incident as unfortunate situation, but thanked God that no lives were lost in the tragedic fire incident.
He commended the prompt response of the fire service, the police, and residents of the area, noting that their swift intervention prevented the fire from causing more extensive damage.
The Governor assured affected residents that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and establish whether it resulted from an electrical fault or any form of human involvement.
According to him, relevant agencies, including the police, security services, and fire service have been directed to carry out a detailed, comprehensive investigation to unravel the cause.
He also announced that electricity supply to the affected area would remain disconnected pending the outcome of the investigation by the security agencies to know the root cause of the unfortunate fire incident.
The Governor reiterated the prosperity government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and assured residents that every necessary step would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future strategically.
