Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Sunday joined family members, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the 70th birthday thanksgiving service of Madam Ebidei Kumokou at the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Amarata Church 1, Yenagoa.

Hotnews reports that Governor Diri attended the thanksgiving service alongside his wives, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri and Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Diri, describing the celebration as a significant milestone worthy of honour and gratitude to God.

The Governor paid glowing tribute to the celebrant, recalling the invaluable role she played in his life many years ago when he lived with her family in Port Harcourt. Madam Ebidei Kumokou is the wife of the governor’s elder cousin, Chief Isaac Kumokou.

Reflecting on those formative years, Governor Diri described the septuagenarian as a woman whose life has been defined by humility, sacrifice, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.

“The septuagenarian, who at some point in my life’s journey catered to my well-being when I stayed in their home in Port Harcourt, is a woman of humility, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to her family and community,” the governor said.

He explained that his presence at the thanksgiving service was a demonstration of deep appreciation and respect for a woman who made significant contributions to his personal growth and well-being.

“My attendance at the thanksgiving service underscores my deep appreciation and respect for the celebrant. My family and I celebrate this significant milestone in the life of Madam Ebidei Kumokou, who is the wife of my elder cousin, Chief Isaac Kumokou,” he stated.

Governor Diri noted that although he does not usually celebrate birthdays, landmark occasions such as a 70th birthday deserve special recognition.

“I am not particularly a birthday person. I hardly ever celebrate even my own birthday. But there are milestones that cannot be ignored. Seventy years is one of such milestones.

“Looking back at all she has been to us as a family, there was no way I could have been absent from this celebration.”

The Governor further described Madam Kumokou as a loving mother, caring sister, and devoted wife whose kindness and selflessness have positively impacted many lives.

“Mrs. Kumokou is a mother, a sister and a caring wife. She looked after my welfare with humility and selflessness. Today, we thank God for preserving her life to witness this remarkable age, and we pray that He will continue to grant her more years in good health and fulfilment,” he said.

On behalf of his family and the community, Governor Diri offered prayers for God’s continued grace upon the celebrant, asking that her life would continue to fulfil divine purpose while enjoying many more years of peace, good health, and abundant blessings.

The thanksgiving service attracted family members, church leaders, friends, associates, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Madam Ebidei Kumokou’s seven decades of impactful living, expressing gratitude to God for His faithfulness and sustaining grace throughout her life.
